WHERE ARE THE KENYAN HUSTLERS?

Here's a real gem of a story which the Kiss/Classic Business News Editor, Solomon Kirimi, wrote earlier today.

It has that simple, down to earth, common-man appeal by virtue of not only being simply written; -- but also being simple to understand and take in, with a dash of humor on the side.

I reproduce it here for your consumption.

Regardless of how you look at it, from the sheer size of advertising spending to the size of television audiences; -- the Olympics are the single largest sporting events in the world. It comes only once every 4 years, and they present an opportunity for a quick buck for astute business people.

However; -- much as Kenyans are regarded as the ‘hustlers’ off East Africa, it seems the business aspect is not ticking with the normally aggressive business lot. Not even T-shirts or caps are visible on the streets as was the case when the FIFA World Cup was underway in Germany just 2 years ago.

Back then merchandise flooded the market before, during and after the event.

Unlike soccer; -- Kenya performs better that any other African states in the Olympics, but still merchandise branded with names of Kenyan stars will not grab local fans attention; -- even though most of them will be busy signing autographs in Beijing.

Kenyan hustlers, mmm...they come with all sorts of ideas, even without the Steadmna research they know thier target market like the preacher knows his word. I love the fact that they have picked up on the olimpics euphoria to make an extra buck. where would Kenya be without this hustlers?
